If you are new to the area or just haven't had time to get around, we are blessed with many resources are in the county for wonderful local produce and products. This month we feature one of our favorites, Ken Hays' Honey and Apple Farm which produces Bosque Farms Honey. Located at 400 Esperanza, Bosque Farms, NM the Hays' Farm is a beautiful orchard of 500 apple trees that provide Mr. Hays' thousands of bees with an abundant of fragrant blossoms. They also feast on the fields of clover blossoms in the area. Ken's fresh honey is available at their local store or you can call for ordering information at 869-2369. We recommend that you take a drive to the local farm. Ken's knowledge of bees is amazing (he teaches bee-keeping too) and the country shop is a joy to visit. If you are lucky enough, Ken Hays might be there and can tell you the story of honey-making and the wonderful healing properties of bees and the products they make. Apples are available throughout the fall season and you can visit nmapples.com for additional information on the apple growers of New Mexico. This web site also has lots of great information on gardening and other local resources. We love the honey sticks and serve them at the Rotisserie and Spa to sweeten our teas or just to sweeten our mouths. |
